Another 15 Years

These are all sterilized insulin bottles collected over the span of 15 years.

Each one systematically emptied in increments of a dosage measured and injected by needles.

There are over 150 bottles in this photo.

I collect bottles and I have been saving these since I was diagnosed with Diabetes when I was 9 years old. I recently cleaned out a large pile I had been saving up to clean when I felt like getting around to it and when I saw the pile and thought what an amazing and horrible thing this little pile of glass was.

Each one, to every diabetic, is life support.
Without these little vials and their contents we would die.
Such small and fragile and mundane little things they are yet so very important to so many.

This isn’t all of the bottles I have either, I didn’t start collecting them right away when I was using them and I’ve broken a few as well, but to look at all of these and think they were all injected in to me to keep me alive for 15 years. How many more will I accumulate in the next 15, and then the 15 years after that and so on?
And then to think a lot of people have to take more then I do.

I’m no photographer but I just thought it was a little surreal and interesting to see these lined up like this so I thought I would post them.
