Silver Web Leaf Necklace-1

Description

This rose leaf is hand cast in crystal clear polyester resin and finished with a clear glossy non-yellowing protective coating which is chemically bonded to the resin. The back of the leaf has been carefully hand painted in a reverse glass painting technique with layers of metallic and iridescent enamels. The solvents in the enamels I use melt the surface of the resin and chemically fuse with the resin upon curing which gives it the look of dichoric glass and ensures it is permanent.
The painted back of the leaf is sandwiched and finished with gold-tone foil and layered with brush-on clear and translucent sepia enamels for added strength and durability and has the look of a brushed bronze.
The colours and tonal shifts in this piece are patina green, deep midnight green, silvery cream, crimson and burgundy wine with subtle sparkles of micro fine glitter particles scattered throughout the leaf. Set with a large brass filigree heart patterned brass bail with a center accent piece of a 6mm full blooming rose with 3 miniature leaves in anodized aluminum in the varying colours of antique tarnished silver.
The rose leaf pendant is hung on a 3mm handmade rope chain that has been woven into a web with another 6mm rose and leaves on either side of the necklace with glass pearls in chocolate brown, pale rosy mauve and a creamy toffee colour at the intersections of the web pattern.
The chain is antique sterling silver and it is from a necklace that belonged to my great-great grandmother that I inherited from my grandmother many years ago, it was broken so I fashioned it into a web shape and only just found a suitable form for it.
15 inch chain adjustable up to 18 inches with a 3 inch silver cable chain ending in a miniature rose leaf charm, closes with a lobster claw clasp.

The photos of this piece were taken in different settings with a variety of lighting to show the colours and the colour shifts of the iridescence. Some are indirect lighting, some are direct while others may have used a flash. These pendants are prismatic with a mirror effect which is almost imposable to show correctly in photos.
